In our last conversation, we explored how the Q-SYS RoomSuite Modular System is reshaping the way medium and large collaboration rooms are deployed at scale. Step onto a casino floor, a hotel lobby, a stadium concourse, government facilities, or a corporate all-hands space, and you will notice something else: displays are everywhere.

Introducing the Q-SYS NVM Series

Q-SYS NVM Series network video endpoints expand the existing video capabilities of Q-SYS systems to deliver high-quality, low-bandwidth network video across hospitality, entertainment, collaboration, government, and more. NVM Series leverages Mediacast, a network-efficient AV transport paradigm built around an industry-standard codec designed for scalability: many sources, many destinations, and a network that needs to support both video and the rest of the business.

Purpose-Built Endpoints

NVM Series is anchored by two endpoint models that pair encoder or decoder hardware with video software:

• The NVM-302E encoder includes a pre-installed, single-encode streaming video app (NVM-E1).

• The NVM-E2 Bundle includes the NVM-302E encoder and an expansion license that enables the dual-encode streaming video app (NVM-E2). This license can be applied via Q-SYS Core Manager or Q-SYS Reflect.

• NVM-302D decoder: Includes a pre-installed, single-decode streaming video app (NVM-D1). 

These endpoints feature HDMI I/O which supports resolutions up to 4K60 4:4:4. They also feature onboard IR and RS232 for third-party device control and USB-C which will allow for AV bridging in a future firmware release. With low-density I/O and network-efficient video transport, NVM Series let integrators scale cost-effectively.

NVM Designer is a uniquely intuitive software configuration tool within Q-SYS Designer Software™ that enables system designers to configure and deploy hundreds of endpoints in minutes, with no separate video matrix or management appliance required. Additionally, NVM Manager is a tool that lets you manage your entire NVM deployment during runtime. For integrators and members of Edge, this means a single workflow for DSP and control programming, AV routing and UCI design.  

A Real-World Example: The Casino Floor

Consider a typical casino. There are a lot of displays that need to show content from a number of sources. The NVM-302E can simultaneously encode two 4K30 4:4:4 Mediacast streams to the network and each display connects to the NVM-302D, which delivers a single HDMI decode stream. Core handles venue-wide AV routing, control processing, DSP processing.

Q-SYS MPA-Q Series network amplifiers drive AD-C6T-HP high-power ceiling loudspeakers for background music and announcements, while a Q-SYS TSC Series touchscreen provides local source selection and control.

A central Q-SYS Core processor handles system-wide logic and centralized services, and a Q-SYS PS-TSCG3-H paging system delivers site-wide announcements. Audio, video, and control designed in one software tool, driven by a full stack AV platform.
