PROJECT OVERVIEW
At Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus, the new AI Innovation Center was designed to feel like more than just a place to learn. It needed to feel like stepping into the future.
Render Impact partnered with Miami Dade College and Innovate AV to bring that vision to life through a fully immersive LED-driven experience. Together, we created a dynamic digital environment that blends cinematic 3D content with the architecture of the space, turning the lab into something that feels alive.
At the center of it all is a large-format LED video wall, supported by a continuous ribbon display that wraps the room with motion and energy. Working together, these elements create a unified experience that surrounds visitors and pulls them into the world of AI. This project was brought to life in close collaboration with Innovate AV, who designed and integrated the entire audiovisual system for the AI Innovation Center. From early planning through final commissioning, their team played a key role in translating the creative vision into a fully functional, high-performance media environment that supports the experience every day.
Innovate-AV was selected as the audio-visual partner of choice to collaborate with Miami Dade College and their architecture firm to design a state-of-the-art environment that empowers students and faculty to teach, learn, collaborate, and explore the boundless potential of AI locally and globally. Together, we developed an advanced technological ecosystem that fosters creativity across disciplines integrating artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, immersive technologies, robotics, and advanced networking to transform learning through innovation. The space included a welcome center, multiple classrooms, a student collaboration room and an interactive ChatGPT wall.
VISION & OBJECTIVES
From the beginning, the goal was to create something that would immediately capture attention while still feeling thoughtful and intentional.
We wanted to:
Showcase MDC’s AI programs in a way that feels engaging and easy to understand
Inspire students and visitors through a forward-looking environment
Keep the visuals abstract enough to feel timeless, not overly literal
Integrate seamlessly with the architecture of the space
Make sure everything was designed specifically for the LED displays
At its core, the idea was simple. This shouldn’t feel like content playing on screens. It should feel like you’ve stepped inside an AI system. From the outset, the creative vision was closely aligned with the technical strategy. Working alongside Innovate AV, we ensured that key factors like display scale, viewing angles, brightness, and spatial flow were considered early, allowing both the content and the AV system to be designed in tandem rather than sequentially.
TECHNICAL APPROACH & SYSTEM INTEGRATION
This project required a careful balance between creative ambition and technical execution.
LED Display System
Main LED Video Wall: 4160w × 1600h pixel resolution
Curved LED Ribbon: 9000w × 300h pixel resolution
Content Length: 2-3 minutes
Media Systems & Playback
To support seamless playback across both displays, Innovate AV implemented a robust media system designed for synchronization, reliability, and performance. Special attention was given to maintaining consistent timing and visual continuity between the main video wall and the ribbon display, ensuring that both elements feel connected as part of a single experience. The system was optimized to handle native resolution content while maintaining smooth playback, with careful consideration given to signal distribution, processing, and long-term operational stability.
Integration Challenges
Integrating the system into a real-world environment presented a number of challenges, f rom aligning display geometry within the architecture to calibrating color and brightness across multiple surfaces. Innovate AV worked closely with both the design and construction teams to coordinate installation, manage technical constraints, and ensure the system performed exactly as intended once content was deployed.
Collaboration with Innovate AV
We worked closely with Innovate AV, the AV integration company, throughout the process to make sure everything performed exactly as intended once installed.
That collaboration included:
Setting up and optimizing media playback
Mapping content across both displays
Fine-tuning color, brightness, and contrast for the space
On-site testing and adjustments
Ensuring everything ran smoothly and consistently
Having that level of coordination between creative and technical teams made a big difference in how seamlessly the final experience came together.

Concept Development
We started by defining the overall idea: a futuristic AI lab where intelligence is visualized through motion, data, and interaction. Early concepts explored how to represent complex ideas in a way that felt visual, intuitive, and immersive.
Style Frames
Next, we developed style frames to lock in the look and feel:
A clean, bright lab environment
Lighting and materials
The design of the robot host
Holographic UI elements
We wanted it to feel high-tech, but still approachable and human.
Animation & Motion Development
From there, we moved into animation:
Building out sequences for each AI discipline
Creating camera movement that works for large-scale LED viewing
Developing pacing and transitions
Everything was designed with the physical space in mind, not just the screen.
Pre-Visualization
Previs played a huge role in this project. We simulated the actual LED displays to:
Test composition and framing
Ensure key moments read clearly
Adjust motion for different viewing angles
Validate how the wall and ribbon worked together
This step helped us catch and refine a lot before final production.
Pre-visualization also played an important role in collaboration with Innovate AV. By simulating the LED displays early in the process, we were able to validate how content would translate to the physical system, allowing both teams to refine composition, scale, and playback considerations before installation. This early alignment helped reduce surprises on site and streamlined the final deployment process.
Final Production
The final content was created using Unreal Engine along with Cinema 4D and Redshift.
This allowed us to move quickly while still achieving the level of detail and realism needed for high-resolution LED displays.
Installation, Testing & Calibration
Once production was complete, Innovate AV led the on-site installation, system integration, and commissioning process. This included precise alignment of the LED displays, calibration of color and brightness, and thorough testing of media playback across both the main wall and ribbon. Working together on site, both teams reviewed content in its final environment, making small adjustments to ensure everything looked and performed exactly as intended. This phase was critical in bridging the gap between the controlled studio environment and the realities of the physical space.
THE EXPERIENCE
The finished experience places viewers inside a futuristic AI lab.
At the center, a robotic host activates a series of holographic displays, each representing a key part of MDC’s AI curriculum:

Each moment builds on the last, creating a continuous flow of motion, light, and interaction. The ribbon display extends that experience throughout the space, adding a layer of ambient motion and branded messaging that ties everything together. Behind the scenes, the performance of the AV system plays a critical role in delivering a smooth and immersive experience. The experience is designed for continuous operation, allowing the content to run reliably while maintaining the visual quality and consistency required for a space like the AI Innovation Center.

Each of these required iteration, testing, and close coordination across teams.
TECHNICAL CHALLENGES
From a technical standpoint, the project required careful coordination across multiple systems and disciplines. Synchronizing content across two distinct display formats, maintaining consistent color and brightness, and ensuring stable playback at ultra high resolutions all required detailed planning and testing.
Through close collaboration, both teams were able to solve these challenges in a way that preserved the creative intent while meeting the practical demands of the installation.
RESULTS & IMPACT
The final installation has become a centerpiece of the AI Innovation Center. It creates a strong first impression, draws people into the space, and helps communicate MDC’s AI programs in a way that feels clear and engaging. More importantly, it gives the environment a distinct identity. It makes the space feel forward-looking, immersive, and aligned with the future of technology.
System Performance
Beyond the visual impact, the system was designed for long-term performance and ease of use. The result is an installation that not only looks impressive, but also operates reliably day-to-day, supporting the needs of students, faculty, and staff without added complexity.
AV System Design & Integration
The audiovisual system for the AI Innovation Center was designed and integrated by Innovate AV, with a focus on performance, reliability, and seamless integration with the space.
